This Month I’ve Mostly Been…January 2026

New year…new things to read, watch and listen to! I’ll keep it brief because I’m having a busy month.

This month I’ve been reading…

‘Dept. of Speculation’ Jenny Offill A book I enjoyed so much I will definitely read again. A story of relationships, parenthood and the struggles and feelings that may arise when trying to navigate both.

'A Friends Kitchen’ Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi Beautiful, thought provoking poetry from a Sudanese poet in exile.

This month I’ve been watching…

'Daddy Issues’ BBC iPlayer

“Daddy Issues” is a BBC comedy about Gemma, a hard-partying 24‑year‑old whose life is upended when she discovers she’s pregnant after a one‑night stand. Gemma has no one else to turn to but her recently divorced dad, Malcolm, who is himself in crisis and barely capable of looking after his own life.

Amy Lou Wood is obviously brilliant but David Morrisey’s Malcolm is so, so good. In a world that is seemingly going to hell at the moment this was some welcome, funny, light relief. It’s available on BBC iPlayer, so you can watch if you pay your licence fee (pay your damn licence fee!)

And finally this month I’ve been listening to a lot of…

'Selling a Vibe’ The Cribs

'Secret Love’ Dry Cleaning

'The Demise of Planet X’ Sleaford Mods

'Xiu Mutha Fu*kin Xiu: Vol 1’ Xiu Xiu

Alongside the above new music I’ve been enjoying, here’s a playlist of everything I gave a listen to this month on Tidal 'This Month I’ve Mostly Been Listening to…January 2026’

Hope you enjoy checking some of these out, See you next month!
